A new concept brings bistronomy and artisanal ambience to Jumeirah

Terra offers an elevated yet approachable restaurant in a sought-after residential area.

Serving ingredient-driven dishes in a space that takes cues from international benchmarks, Terra is a laid-back yet elevated concept that provides a quality homegrown neighbourhood restaurant in Jumeirah.

Named after the Latin word for earth and located next to Waitrose on Al Thanya Road, the restaurant’s menu is inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean, with bistro-style food that doesn’t compromise on quality and features premium ingredients at the heart of the gastronomic experience.

Small plates including the Beef Carpaccio Roll, Watermelon Salad and Sweet Aubergine Croquettes present new takes on classic combinations and moreish comfort is provided by a selection of wood-fired pizzas and pasta including Lobster Tagliatelle. The umami-packed Short Rib with barley risotto is also set to be an instant classic. Show-stopping mains include the Salt Baked Sea Bass with shaved zucchini and the Lamb Chops with smoked aubergine and harissa. To end the experience, signatures include the Lotus Cheesecake and the Sticky Date Pudding.

Placing importance on sustainability, the F&B team at Terra has endeavoured to work with local producers where possible and, where necessary, bring in the finest produce from abroad. The menu has been kept intentionally small so that the team can focus on seasonality and create special dishes based on ingredients at their best.

Whether dining on the understatedly chic dining room’s tree-lined terrace, interior design is another area where the Jumeirah-based restaurant stands out. The space was conceived to recreate the atmosphere of a summer evening in a Southern European courtyard. The concept’s earthy and artisanal aesthetic is evident in its hand-finished clay walls and handmade floor tiles. Natural textures including reclaimed wood, linen fabrics, smoked metals and handmade ceramics in earth tones provide a canvas for the lush green foliage in electric blue pots that fill the space.
