INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS GROUP TO OPEN ITS FIRST HOTEL INDIGO IN DOWNTOWN DUBAI

The October opening marks the arrival of the first Hotel Indigo in the region.

Hotel Indigo is the boutique and lifestyle brand from InterContinental Hotels Group, whose flagship property for the region will soon open its doors on the banks of the Dubai Creek, minutes away from the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa.

Each Hotel Indigo property brings the outside in, drawing from the local culture to inspire every aspect of each hotel, from intriguing design to locally inspired menus. Just as no places are alike, no two Hotel Indigo properties are alike, and each Hotel Indigo draws inspiration from the local neighbourhood and popular trends in food, drink and design to create a warm and vibrant atmosphere.

Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown is no exception, taking inspiration from the story of its neighbourhood to help guests feel part of the destination. Situated on the banks of Dubai Creek the area is steeped in tradition and is Dubai’s epicentre for trade. Visitors staying at Hotel Indigo can still witness the hustle and bustle of the Creek, where the wooden dhows and abras ferry throngs of people across the waterway.

The Creek represents Dubai’s transformation from a trading post to a city of the future, and this has greatly influenced the hotel’s overall architectural and interior design approach. Each of the 269 rooms is inspired by the hotel’s location and include surrealist wallpaper designed by local artists, bespoke shisha lamps and wardrobes with ornately carved wooden doors.

Spa-inspired bathrooms are inlaid with mother-of-pearl and pay homage to the country’s proud heritage of pearl diving. At the same time, eye-catching vibrant Moroso designer furniture adds a contemporary touch to the interior. Floor to ceiling windows provide views across the Dubai Creek or city skyline.

The hotel has supported local creatives, collaborating with Alserkal Cultural Foundation, Tashkeel and XVA Gallery to house over 200 pieces of art.

Food and beverage offerings include Open Sesame, a relaxed eatery offering a selection of healthy and wholesome dishes as well as brewing Dubai’s finest locally roasted speciality coffee with partner Café Rider Custom Roastery. This social hotspot is inspired by the region’s history and infused flavours of the local spice bazaars that tell a story. If you’re in search of a fun night out, swing by the Satwa-inspired cocktail bar Off The Wall for uniquely crafted cocktails saturated with graffiti or the aptly-named Orange Feels, which is located on the second floor and offers a selection of Aperol based cocktails.

Guests wanting to de-stress or relax can visit the wellness deck, where they can work up a sweat in the gym, find headspace in the yoga studio or lap-it-out in the fabulous 25-metre infinity pool.

Rates at Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown start from AED 349 per room per night, inclusive of breakfast.
