Adidas is putting its most fashionable foot forward, as it has created yet another exciting collaboration: Dr Azra x adidas. The sport wear brand has teamed up with Dubai-based henna artist Dr Azra. If the popularity of the recent adidas X Ravi collaboration is anything to go by, we expect you’ll be seeing this on a social media feed near you.
Dr Azra (real name Azra Khamissa) has decorated three pairs of trainers with her henna art. Each pair has a gold-coloured henna pattern, which pops on the all-white trainers. The designs include a high-top trainer with sleek gold stripes, a low-top trainer with geometric gold zig zags, and a low-top trainer with bold gold waves.
Dr Azra has gone from health to henna, as she originally started as a chiropractor before working in design. She has previously designed handbags and is now a popular henna artist – she has 154,000 Instagram followers and counting. If you want to recreate her henna designs at home, she even has her own dye and stencils.
Dr Azra said: “I was commissioned to design three sneakers using henna. It was a lot of fun using henna on leather, and actually quite challenging. I hope you like them, and please let me know if you pass by to see them at the new adidas Originals store in Dubai Mall”.
We are loving adidas’ collaboration with UAE brands, especially since it is using its flagship Dubai store to offer a platform for local creatives. While you can’t get your hands on a pair of Dr Azra x adidas just yet, you can see them on display in the shop window at adidas Originals in Dubai Mall.
This is all part of adidas’ commitment to celebrating local talent. Recently, the adidas X Ravi collaboration saw the sports brand partner with the much-loved Pakistani restaurant. The trainers were so sought-after, that customers queued from 4am and they quickly sold out. So, if Dr Azra x adidas trainers do go on sale, you have been warned.
