The Eastern Punk collection pays homage to Türkiye’s punk heritage.
It’s all about Les Benjamins. The Turkish fashion brand is fusing influences with its Fall 2024 collection. The Eastern Punk collection draws inspiration from Türkiye’s history and rebellion, and aims to have the punk spirit at its core.
Les Benjamins Eastern Punk collection looks back at the Creative Director, Bünyamin Aydin’s, own ancestorial roots. The collection fuses heritage with modern silhouettes, and pays homage to the country’s legendary musician Tünay Akdeniz – he is considered Türkiye’s first punk artist.
Bünyamin explained: “Once you reconnect with your roots and the origins of how music genres started in your hometown, only then can you continue building new movements. I wanted to reintroduce these Turkish cultural treasures to the youth”.
Womenswear Design Director, Lamia Al-Otaishan Aydin, added: “There’s nothing more rewarding than to be able to share our rich underground music community with the world”.
Les Benjamins Eastern Punk has been influenced by punk album covers, Turkish calligraphy, and traditional carpet motifs. The punk elements include patchwork, safety pins, studs and zippers. The silhouettes are aimed at men and women, and would not look out of place on the likes of singer Harry Styles.
The clothing features asymmetry, distressed finishes, and a bright colour palette, which includes pinks, reds and yellows. The outerwear has been carefully curated with tailoring that showcases classic Turkish patterns, and in a printed denim that is as supple as leather.
In 2011, Bunyamin founded the brand in Istanbul, aiming to bridge Western street culture with the lesser-known Eastern street style. The brand has been spotted on famous faces from Kim Kardashian to Travis Scott. Plus, it has collaborated with Daniel Arsham, Nike and Apple. Now, it is available in more than 60 retailers across 20 countries.
