The new sneakers include autumnal shades.
The singer, producer and designer, Pharrell Williams, has worn many hats – most notably the enlarged Vivienne Westwood one at the Grammy Awards. Now, he is flexing his design muscles, as his brand Humanrace is collaborating with the sportswear giant adidas. Humanrace Samba drops on 12 August, and here’s what we know about the new line.
During Men’s Paris Fashion Week, there was a Samba Café pop-up, which gave us some idea of what to expect. So far, we know that the Humanrace Samba Tones capsule features three autumnal colours: charcoal, terracotta and white. The shoes have been carefully crafted, and include sustainable materials and ECCO leather, from leather shoelaces to lining.
Pharrell is best known as a producer and rapper as part of Neptunes and N.E.R.D. He has won 13 Grammy Awards and his hit songs include Beautiful, Freedom and Frontin’. He has produced songs including Kelis’ Milkshake, Kendrick Lamar’s Alright, and Frank Ocean’s Sweet Life. Plus, he received an Oscar nomination for the song Happy, which was from the film Despicable Me 2.
In February 2023, Pharrell was appointed the Men’s Creative Director of Louis Vuitton. He succeeded Virgil Abloh, who unexpectedly passed away in 2021. Virgil was the first black artistic director at the fashion house, and helped open up the brand to a more diverse demographic. Prior to this, he was behind the streetwear label, Billionaire Boys Club, and skincare line, Humanrace.
Humanrace Samba Tones starts from $200 and is available on adidas’ Confirmed app, humanrace.com and select adidas stores.
