Express yourself: What’s new in the UAE wellness world this September

Back to school, and it’s back to reality following the summer break. FACT’s Soraya Jouzy rounds up the best wellbeing centres offering express treatments this month.

Bedashing

There’s currently a lot of excitement around a new branch opening and their new signature Bedashing Chair. The Bedashing Chair offers hair washing, blow-drying, manicures, pedicures and eyelash treatments simultaneously, without having to move from chair to chair. Created by CEO Noor Al Tamimi, the Bedashing Chair offers customers a one-stop beauty experience to maximise their time. So you can easily be in and out on your lunch break without feeling guilty. The latest branches of Bedashing can be found in Jumeirah Park and Barsha and are entirely Instagrammable.

Crank Abu Dhabi

Boutique fitness studio CRANK put Dubai in a spin when it opened in Alserkal Avenue a couple of years ago. The second branch can be found in the capital at Sheikha Fatima Park in the capital, offering 45-minute programmes of intense cycle-based fitness. The lighting and music are electric, and the workout is definitely not for the faint-hearted. While nightclubs haven’t fully reopened, why not try this class instead. Each CRANK class is different with a loyal following, but I am personally a fan of the shape sessions.

GYM–ON Dubai

Are you looking to shed those extra calories after indulging during your summer holidays? GYM ON, a newly opened fitness centre in Dubai, can help you lose weight through full-body EMS (Electric Muscle Stimulation) training. Applying modern technology to body conditioning, an advanced exercise suit sends targeted electric impulses directly to your muscles to help stimulate muscle building contractions and achieve weight loss, while improving posture and reducing back and joint pain. Gym-ON maintains that you can achieve the results of a 90-minute workout in only 20 minutes through EMS technology! I can vouch for the experience, having found EMS highly effective, although those microcurrents are a force to be reckoned with.

Keyani Wellness Centre

Keyani is a holistic wellness centre in the heart of Al Manara that provides a variety of healing services to better care for your physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing. The centre also has a pet-friendly cafe with vegan and gluten-free options. For on-the-go express treatments, check out their 30-minute holistic facials incorporating crystals and cupping to help heal and rejuvenate. They also offer longer 90-minute treatments and yoga classes. Keyani Wellness Centre is opening soon.

Level Up Pilates

I couldn’t be happier for the women behind Level Up Pilates, who came together to open up this passion project during the pandemic. I opted for the 30-minute lunchtime trampoline class, and let’s say that it’s lucky they have showers! This trampoline class is a mixture of cardio and core, and I felt revived and full of energy once it was complete. Level Up Pilates offers classes for both men and women and next on the list is the weekend kangaroo class.
