Hotel Hotspot: Kempinski Hotel Mall Of The Emirates Dubai

A unique staycation experience taking guests from Dubai’s desert dunes into a sanctuary of snowy slopes.

While many holidaymakers travel to Dubai in search of winter sun, those who live in the Emirates often crave precisely the opposite! For us, there’s nothing quite like the chill of winter. The crisp air and autumnal colours marking the way for a season that revolves around hot chocolate and fireside fun.

Kempinski Hotel Mall Of The Emirates Dubai have come to the rescue by offering a genuinely unique staycation experience, one that embraces both the sun and snow from an attractive location beside Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates.

A brand known for its sense of style and embracement of European Luxury, Kempinski’s portfolio includes regal addresses like the Ciragan Palace Kempinski in Istanbul, and more modern establishments such as the beautiful Apurva Kempinski Bali. No matter where you stay with Kempinski, the expectation is set for a unique and elegant hotel experience.

Kempinski Hotel Mall Of The Emirates Dubai offers just that. Blending old-world European charm, as displayed in the stylish lobby and throughout the bedrooms, with a unique experience inside their collection of Aspen Chalets. These charming but limited in number accommodation options are situated on the hotel’s second floor, where little belies the entrance to a winter wonderland, other than a private entrance traced in a frosty font.

Winter Wonderland

Opening the door to our Duplex Aspen Chalet, we enter into a scene from a festive card. A place where stone chimney breasts, crackling fireplaces and plush fur throws adorn the soft furnishings. It’s as if we’ve been transported from Dubai to Lapland, as we gaze out of the floor-to-ceiling windows and into Dubai’s snow-themed playground, Ski Dubai,

Watching families whizz up and down the snowy slopes fills us with an immediate sense of envy, but we’re comforted by the notion that a stay in the Aspen Chalets includes tickets to the Snow Park laid out before us in all its wintry glory. For now, the comforts of the duplex chalet are more than sufficient, and we thoroughly appreciate the plush accommodation overlong the slopes.

Tasteful black and white images of frozen foliage and dripping icicles set the tone for a luxe ski-themed escape, while a chandelier sculpted to resemble reindeer antlers provides a playfulness to proceedings. Dark wood and leather are in abundance, providing a sense of comfort and class.

While the lower level is home to the living room, dining area, and kitchenette, the upstairs features a large bathroom with a freestanding tub and Hermes amenities. A comfortable bedroom replete with a giant king bed takes pride of place in the centre of the space, laden with thick blankets and fur-lined pillows. Sharing windows with ski Dubai and its sub-zero temperature does, however, have its disadvantages. The chalets do get cold, but snuggling under the covers helps to encapsulate that true winter feeling.

Delightful Dining

Despite having one of Dubai’s largest malls right on your doorstep, the dining destinations you’ll want to try are actually located within the five-star property. Aspen by Kempinski celebrates the European tradition of a grand café with its quaint afternoon tea, great coffee and oversized croissants. Olea offers a lavish breakfast spread by day, before transforming into a sumptuous Arabic restaurant by night. It’s the place to go for sizzling grills and a truly Levantine experience. There’s also an immersive 3D dining experience, ‘Banquet Of Hoshena’, which transports diners into a world of fairies and volcanoes.

However, it’s Salero Tapas & Bodega that we can’t recommend enough. The lively Spanish joint just off the hotel lobby boasts a charm and intimacy that’s hard to rival. Salero is a place where cheese plates, fiery potato bravas and squid ink paella are complemented by a vivacious atmosphere and an enviable selection of grape. Our visit coincides with Flamenco Night (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays), in which a live guitarist and Flamenco dancer provide authentic Spanish vibes that are a rarity in Dubai.
