Swissotel Al Ghurair are on the hunt for Dubai’s next Picasso

Swissôtel Al Ghurair, in collaboration with Swissôtel Kursaal Bern and Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) have challenged eighth-grade students at Swiss International Scientific School (SISD) to an art competition.

The competition was subject to a public vote before final judging was undertaken on Wednesday 23 March, with FACT’s Publishing Director, Edward Smith on the panel. In addition to ten of the winning artworks going on display at Swissôtel Al Ghurair for one year, prizes included a staycation at Swissôtel Al Ghurair, including day access to Laguna Waterpark and a family day pass to Dubai Parks and Resorts. The grand prize for the winning student was a round trip to Zurich sponsored by SWISS, including a two-night stay at the Swissôtel Kursaal Bern, a property boasting picturesque views of the Alps and the historic city.

The theme of the competition revolved around the student’s favourite cartoon characters, combined with their dream of travelling with Swiss International Airlines to Switzerland. The eighth-grade students were encouraged to unleash their creativity taking inspiration from pop culture cartoons such as Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Tom and Jerry and even Olaf, the beloved taking snowman from Disney’s Frozen.
