The BMW XM Mystique Allure is inspired by the British supermodel.
Cars and couture have come together with the unveiling of the new BMW XM Mystique Allure. The show car has been turning heads at the Cannes Film Festival and is inspired by the British supermodel Naomi Campbell. While the car is not available to purchase, here’s how you can see it on the road – or should we say runway.
BMW XM Mystique Allure has an ultramarine exterior and luxury interiors. The car includes silky as well as knitted fabrics and sequined fabric sourced from Swiss manufacturer Jakob Schlaepfer. The one-off show car is currently on display at the Cannes Film Festival and draws inspiration from the event. So much so, that the Academy Award winning composer, Hans Zimmer, has created a bespoke soundtrack for the car.
Hans explained: “This was a singular opportunity to work with BMW and Naomi to create a bold sound profile for this unique BMW XM MYSTIQUE ALLURE, extending the high-fashion materials and visuals into the auditory experience. The sounds are inspired by Naomi Campbell and are meant to be bold, challenge the ordinary and redefine the idea of luxury. With this truly one-of-a-kind vehicle, the sounds are meant to extend the edgy design approach and evoke couture-inspired emotions.”
Naomi hails from Streatham, London. She was scouted while she was still a student and shopping in Covent Garden, London. She was studying to be a dancer at Italia Conti Academy and then switched careers to be a model. Before her 16th birthday, she appeared on the cover of British Elle.
Over Naomi’s career, she has been one of the biggest models in the fashion industry. She has appeared on the cover of American Vogue, British Vogue and Time. She has walked the runway for the biggest names including Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Versace. She has appeared in advertising campaigns for countless brands including Burberry, Fendi, Givenchy and Tommy Hilfiger. Plus, she has been an advocate for diversity in the fashion industry.
