The prospective places include Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh.

The GCC is home to thrilling attractions, from record-breaking sights to family-friendly theme parks. Now, Eddie Sotto, who has worked on designs for Disney and Global Village, has shared his ambition to bring a new interactive rollercoaster to the Middle East, courtesy of Thrillboard.

Eddie previously served as the Senior Vice President of Concept Design at Disney Imagineering and then established his own company, Sotto Studios. He has worked on major attractions, including Mission: Space at Epcot Park in the United States, Pooh’s Hunny Hunt at Tokyo Disneyland in Japan, and Global Village in the United Arab Emirates. Now, he has shared his vision for Thrillboard, which he hopes to bring to the region.

Thrillboard

Thrillboard looks set to be a 76.2-metre-tall tower that combines a traditional ride experience with an observation tower. The tower would be clad in LED screens and blend elements of a rollercoaster and a Ferris Wheel. The images show pods where people are strapped in and transported on the ride. Each pod can be tilted to 19 degrees, which adds to the thrill.

The state-of-the-art experience would include audio and visuals. While the initial renders show Dubai’s Burj Khalifa in the background, Eddie is open to it being located in the wider region.

Thrillboard

Eddie told The National: “Thrillboard would be an eye-catching landmark in any major metropolis, but I think it would be particularly well-suited to vibrant cities such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Riyadh because they are constantly redefining architecture. The drops will be small but fun and not too scary as that would limit ridership. This has a family audience”.
