Covid-19 in the UAE may feel like it has been and gone, but there are still rules in place to protect the population. The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) has declared that it will host a special UAE Covid-19 briefing tonight. The announcement was made on the authority’s Twitter account, and the briefing is scheduled to take Monday 26 September at 5.30pm.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, NCEMA would host regular UAE Covid-19 briefings about the latest regulations on a weekly and fortnightly basis. The briefings stopped and were only reinstated in exceptional circumstances.

NCEMA’s last briefing took place on 23 August, and affected secondary school students aged 12 years and above as well as staff. The last announcement stated that children must take a PCR test before turning to school, and it had to be taken within a 96-hour period before the first day of school.

The current Covid-19 rules in Dubai and Abu Dhabi state that masks must be work indoors. In Abu Dhabi, a green pass is required on the Al Hosn app. If you’re fully vaccinated, a negative PCR test is required within 14 days, and if you’re not vaccinated, a PCR test is required every 48 hours.

The UAE has been praised globally for its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. To date, the UAE has recorded 1.3 million positive Covid-19 cases and 2,343 deaths. There are currently 18,282 active cases in the UAE.
