The new bar opens from 19 November with fun drinks, décor and DJs.

Sufferers of FOMO, this one’s for you. The new speakeasy, Nonsense in Bluewaters, is opening on 19 November. The secret spot feels like a futuristic speakeasy, as it aims to create an out-of-this-world experience. And, in true speakeasy style, it’s all hush-hush.

True to its name, Nonsense in Bluewaters creates an eccentric experience. Guests will need a special code to enter – we recommend taking a look at its Instagram for upcoming clues.

Nonsense

The venue itself will be home to quirky décor, live entertainment and futuristic cocktails. The Blade Runner-esque décor includes big brass-coloured doors, a gold DJ booth, a 3D mural projection and neon lights that change according to the vibe.

Music director, Albert Kurshudyan, curates the entertainment, which includes organic house, Afro-house, and progressive house. The music includes influences of electronic dance music, Kwaito and European house music. Plus, Albert himself will spin tunes under his stage name, DJ Alber Ensso.

Nonsense

Beverage manager, Agassi Serobyan, is behind the cocktail list. The menu includes classic cocktails presented in a modern, Insta-friendly way. We’ve been told that cosmic neon colours will be used as avatars to differentiate between drinks. So, warm tones for sweet ones and cool tones are for sour ones.

The highlights include Coquette, a mix of fruity, sweet flavours that pays homage to flapper fashion, and Love in Harlem, which combines the Negroni with The Boulevardier. Plus, the quirks continue as floppy discs are used as coasters and the bar staff wear Daft Punk-like masks.

Nonsense

Yuriy Blotskyy, co-founder of Oy Hospitality, explains: “Nonsense fully encompasses the vision of a modern speakeasy with a classical thread weaving throughout. The co-founder Oleksii Kolomiets and I created the venue to make it a futuristic listening room concept for the who’s who of Dubai to socialise with great cocktails and a curated vibe.”

Nonsense in Bluewaters is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11pm to 3am.

Let the nonsense begin.
