It’s absolutely no secret that French-Vietnamese restaurant Indochine is a firm favourite with team FACT.
Indochine, the atmospheric dining spot in Dubai’s buzzing DIFC district, was recently awarded ‘Best Pan Asian Restaurant‘ at the FACT Dining Awards Dubai 2021 due to its innovative menu, exemplary service, sophisticated stylings and undeniable vibe.
Not content with being just a venue for a good meal and masterful mixology, Indochine continues to build on its electric atmosphere by introducing live music into the mix on Monday evenings with the launch of Room 84.
The concept is simple, with the name drawing inspiration from 1984, the year of Indochine’s opening in New York City. The even brings a living room style setting into Indochine’s chic lounge, where carpets, drum kits and keyboards are grouped in the middle of the room, just meters from diners tables.
From 8:30pm, guests will be serenaded by a mix of local and international talent, performing three live sets until the clock strikes midnight. The small space and weekly rotation of singers create an intimate live music experience, unlike anywhere else in the city. An inclusive space where audience interaction is as much a part of the evening’s proceedings as track-after-track of toe-tapping tunes.
On the night we attend, we’re in the capable hands of Sean Lipsey, who effortlessly mixes R&B hits from the likes of Stevie Wonder with Neo-Soul from Amy Winehouse via Outkast, Silk Sonic and Craig David. As the evening progresses, so does the vibe, and by the end of the final set, the room is abuzz with joy. For a moment, we forget that we’re in Dubai, having been effortlessly transported to the basement clubs of London and New York, where we spent much of our youth.
With the set-list complete, the party continues into the early hour’s thanks to NYC DJ Belinda Becker continuing her yearly residency at Indochine.
Indochine’s ROOM 84 is the perfect way to enliven the working week, offering an unrivalled vibe and a host of talented musicians to help you forget those workday blues. Whether grazing on a selection of small plates or sipping on handcrafted cocktails, Room 84 offers a vibe like no other in the heart of DIFC. Reservations are essential as the venue is LIT!
