The South American-inspired bar has Latin music and Cuban cigars.
Smoke and Mirrors is lighting up SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences. This new bar meets lounge has opened in the luxury hotel and is bringing South American vibes to the city, as there’s Latin music, Cuban-inspired cocktails and, of course, those cigars.
Smoke and Mirrors draws inspiration from speakeasies in the 1920s, as it is tucked away on the 74th floor of the hotel. The sophisticated interiors look like a cross between a gentleman’s club and an old-school library, as there are smart brown leather sofas, dark wood panelled walls and shelves displaying bottles and books.
The twinkling chandeliers and Art Deco design all give it a touch of class. Plus, the venue boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with widescreen views of the Burj Khalifa.
The extensive menu includes cocktails, agave, whisky, brandy, cognacs and grape. The cigar list covers brands like Aturo Fuente, Drew Estate and Henk Willy, and experts are on hand to help you with cigar pairings.
The signature cocktails include the pirata with cocnut ron, pineapple, lemon and lime; the Latino heavens with mango infused ron, rose vermouth, bitters and St Germain; and the Caribbean negroni with ron, rosso vermouth, Italian and orange bitters.
The Cuban classic list ranges from an old Cuban to Cuba Libre, and each one come with its own cocktail story. For example, the menu tells us that Hemmingway daiquiri was created for Ernest Hemmingway in the 1920s at El Floridita, and here it is bought to life with ron blanco, grapefruit lime and Maraschino liqueur.
Smoke and Mirrors is open daily from 6pm to 3am. So, grab a drink or three, settle into one of those plush seats and watch the city light up.
