Tides Bar launches inside Marea Dubai

The New York-inspired bar has art, cocktails and hip-hop music.

There’s a new DIFC nightlife spot that is set to make waves – Tides Bar at Marea Dubai. Bringing New York vibes to Dubai, the underground bar opens on 1 July, and promises to be one of the city’s cool hangouts. 

Throughout Tides Bar, there are nods to New York’s cultural scene, from Andy Warhol-esque Pop Art to old-school Hip-Hop. Fans of 90s Hip-Hop will love the bar, as the resident DJ will be spinning those tunes.  

As for the theme of the venue, it’s all inspired – as the name suggests – by the ocean. The bar is located inside the FACT award-winning Marea restaurant, and in Italian “marea” means “tide”. So, the venue nods to the nautical, from a large octopus chandelier above the bar to the holographic octopus lights.

Tides Bar is all about relaxed elegance. Due to its late-night hours, it may well be a great nightcap spot. So, settle into one of the plush blue velvet chairs and pull up to the marble table. The bar bites have been created by executive chef, Yunus Emre Aydin, but the emphasis is on the nautical themed cocktails.

The mixologists, Danylo Hutsal and Cindy Lalramngaihzuali, have worked hard on the creative cocktail menu. Danylo has worked in hospitality for more than ten years, and Cindy previously worked at India’s Hoots’, which made it onto Asia’s 50 Best Bars list. Each cocktail is inspired by one of the world’s seven seas and five oceans. For example, the Arabian Sea is made with a hint of sage and grapefruit, and served in a blue glass.

Atelier House Hospitality is behind the launch, and its Managing Director, Panchali Mahendra, said: “Tides has been a passion project for over a year, and it is a delight to see it finally come to light. The venue is unique to Dubai as we realised a New York-style, high-end bar with a refined, engaging, and lively ambience for the after-hours crowd was lacking. We made sure to maintain the elevated standard expected for the Marea brand but inject some intrigue.”

Tides Bar is open from Thursday to Saturday, from 10pm to 3am, and accommodates 40 to 50 people. Go on, have one (or more) for the road.
