Oman unveils 40 outdoor adventure projects including cable cars and zip lines
The tourism developments include stunning new mountain trails.
There are plenty of reasons to visit Oman, but now there are 40 more. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has revealed outdoor adventure projects, which will offer visitors a new and exciting way to experience the country. We’re talking cable cars, mountain trails and zip lines.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism aims to boost tourism and in turn the economy in the country. The projects are currently underway, and more will be added before 2025. The cable car will be located in the Botanic Garden in Al Khoudh, Muscat, and the ziplines will be located at Wadi Darbat, Dhofar.
So far, 53 mountain trails have been approved, but 15 new mountain trails will be added. Many of the trails will be located in the Hajar Mountain range, which is home to Oman’s talent mountain, Jebel Shams. There will also be a road to the popular tourist destination and mountainside village, Al Sogara, Jabal Akhdar. Plus, the facilities will include cafés, campsites and changing rooms.
Oman is home to some of the world’s most spectacular caves. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism confirmed that developments include expanding cave networks, creating recreational caving facilities and training new guides.
If you can’t wait until 2025, Oman recently opened the world’s longest zipline over water. Opened by Oman Adventure Centre, it stretches a whopping 1,800 metres, and is located in Khasab in the enclave of Musandam.
Plus, visiting Oman became easier, thanks to new visa rules. Oman announced that tourists from more than 100 countries will be able to enter the country without a visa. Residents from GCC countries will be able to visit Oman visa-free.
Strap in, outdoor adventure awaits.
