Hops will be served before and after matches, but not during the games.
It’s not long until the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 kicks off. In the run-up to the event, FIFA has confirmed that alcohol will be available inside the World Cup stadiums. Visitors attending matches inside the eight stadiums will be able to purchase alcohol before and after the games, but not during the matches.
Alcohol will be served in a ticketed perimeter surrounding the stadiums, but not at the stadium’s stands or concourse. A source states: “Beer will be available when gates open, which is three hours before kick-off. Whoever wants to have a beer will be able to. And then when they leave the stadium as well for one hour after the final whistle.”
For many footie fans, beer is the drink of choice. Budweiser is one of the tournament’s sponsors, and it has exclusive rights to sell beer at the event. Budweiser Zero, a non-alcoholic version of the drink, will also be available inside the stadium’s concourses, stands and during the game.
This is the first World Cup to be held in the Middle East and in a Muslim country, which has strict rules regarding alcohol. At previous World Cups, beer has been served in fan zones throughout the day. In Qatar, Budweiser will be served in the main FIFA fan zone in Doha every day during the tournament from 6:30pm to 1am.
FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 runs from 20 November to 18 December. If you haven’t managed to nab tickets to the tournament, don’t worry. There are plenty of amazing places in the UAE to watch the beautiful game. Plus, NH Dubai The Palm is opening a special football-themed hotel, which includes sports bars, sport challenges and sports competitions.
