BOCA and Frying Pan Adventures collaborate on a stunning Iftar
If you are looking for a unique, delicious and experimental Iftar this Ramadan, we have a hidden gem for you!
Mediterranean eatery BOCA has teamed up with Frying Pan Adventures, a company that organises tasty tours of the city’s hidden culinary treasures to lay out an unforgettable dining adventure.
Curated by BOCA’s Chef Matthijs Stinnissen, the eight-course menu represents different sides of Dubai, bringing a passion for flavours, cultures and stories alive through food. BOCA Dubai, the DIFC restaurant that is well-known for its imaginative dishes, have used their usual method of taking whatever’s good, fresh and delicious, doing as little to it as possible and sharing it with their customers. The concept stands firm by its sharing ethos, and all dishes are portioned equally and are served as soon as they are ready.
The journey starts with bread, olives, nuts and dates, followed by soups, then on to starters. Starters arrive both hot and cold, including an array of flavours and five-star dishes. We loved the nutty-ness of the sweet potato hummus with peanuts and the snap pea salad with feta. The Basturmah Croquetas with shanklish and manchego cream were also outstanding and very different to anything I’ve ever tasted in the city.
Main dishes arrived in a flurry of flavour and included mackerel masgoof with date dibs, baby gem, lime, labneh and confit lemon; BOCA’s take on Iranian kebabs made with lamb flank skewers, black lime, sumac, yoghurt and ras el hanout and Zerieshk and Bomba Rice, a glorious concoction of Iranian barberries and mixed Baharat.
Make sure you save room for dessert – the pistachio kunafa rolls with Iranian pistachio ganache and Azahar flower ice cream, as well as a saffron and white chocolate crescent are not to be missed!
The BOCA and Frying Pan Adventures collab can be enjoyed for just AED 160 per person, but advance bookings are essential. The menu changes slightly throughout Ramadan, providing ample opportunity for return visits.
