The souq will run until 9 March.
Ramadan is a special time in the United Arab Emirates. It’s a time of reflection, spiritual growth, and communal harmony. In Dubai, the arrival of the Holy Month is marked with various traditions and festivities, and the Ramadan Souq is one such cherished event.
Organised by the Dubai Municipality, this lively event is currently in full swing and open until 9 March. Nestled in Bur Deira’s historic Old Municipality Street, this vibrant souq brings everyone together in a celebration of tradition, culture and community spirit. It’s a melting pot of sights, sounds, and aromas that encapsulate the essence of the auspicious month.
At the Ramadan Souq, you can embark on a splendid shopping journey, exploring stalls brimming with essential items and gadgets. From traditional Ramadan decorations to specialty foods and ingredients, the souq offers everything needed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere at home.
One of the highlights of the event is the showcase of products for celebrating ‘Hag Al Laila,’ a traditional Emirati celebration that takes place on the 15th night of Sha’ban, marking the beginning of the countdown to Ramadan. Visitors can indulge in the rich cultural heritage of the UAE by participating in this age-old tradition through authentic products and experiences available at the souq.
The Ramadan Souq is a place where families come together to enjoy live entertainment shows, engage in activities for children, and savour delicious treats, from traditional Emirati cuisine to international flavours.
Deira’s historical markets serve as the perfect backdrop for the Ramadan Souq. From the bustling Grand Souq, also known as the ‘Al Dhalam Souq,’ to the Plates Market and the Souq Al Manazer, each market exudes its own unique charm and character. By reviving and revitalising these historical spaces, Dubai not only honours its past but also creates opportunities for economic growth and cultural exchange.
