Indulge in Viennese classics, from schnitzels to studels, in the family-friendly restaurant.
Have you ever heard of a kaiserschmarrn station? Well, you will when you visit the new Sisi’s Eatery in Dubai Hills Mall, which serves authentic Austrian food. Sisi’s Eatery had a soft launch in September and officially opens on 5 October, and is already making its mark as one of the few Austrian restaurants in Dubai.
Specialising in Viennese cuisine, the all-day diner prides itself on serving handcrafted cuisine, baked goods and speciality coffee. Come for the breakfast and stay for the cakes. A morning highlight is the Austrian breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, cold cuts, cheese, liptauer, pickles and Austrian jam, honey and butter.
The menu includes salads, soups, sandwiches, pastas and risottos. If you want to dive fork first into the cuisine, we’d recommend the Austrian classics such as zucchini strudel, Austrian mountain cheese tortiglioni, spinach dumplings and chanterelle mushroom goulash. Plus, no Austrian menu would be complete with schnitzels, which include veal, turkey and chicken.
As for desserts, take your pick from 50 varieties of cakes created from centuries-old Viennese recipes. The desserts range from the chocolate hazelnut knödel (warm fluffy dumpling filled with chocolate and served with berries and ice cream), to the sacher dome (an apricot cake glazed with chocolate).
As for Sisi’s Eatery’s name, it is inspired by the 19th-century Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Aged 16, she was nicknamed Sisi and married Emperor Franz Joseph I, and was famous for her good looks, rebellious streak and love of cake. Rumour has it that she had a spiral staircase built, so that she could eat her treats in privacy. For that reason, you’ll even find a spiral staircase inside the restaurant.
Sisi’s Eatery in Dubai Hills Mall is open daily from 8am to midnight. Oh, and if you’re wondering, kaiserschmarrn are Austrian-style shredded pancakes.
