The new female-led restaurant is located at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

If the sound of ceviche and tempura gets your mouth watering, then you’ll be thrilled to hear about the opening of Onze in Dubai. Onze is coming to Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, and is a restaurant inspired by Japanese and Peruvian cuisine.

Located next to the Park Hyatt Dubai, Onze in Dubai fuses together the two cultures across its menu and décor. The design includes a red-hot bar, spacious interiors and an art installation of flying birds, which hang from the 30-metre-high ceiling. Plus, the 700-metre-long terrace boasts views of Dubai Creek and the skyline.

Blue Thunderbird Company is behind Onze in Dubai. Led by brothers Sami and Selim Raad, the company have previously launched venues in the UAE and Lebanon. The new restaurant is managed and operated by two women, as the general manager is Ghada Ajib and the head chef is Marissa Josefinna Vallve. Plus, Marissa brings her experience from working at Lima, Asado and The Act Dubai.

Marissa explains: “I’m so excited to design a menu that mixes flavours from Peru and Japan. The dishes I have created are inspired by my travels and contain amazing ingredients such as salt from the mountains of Peru. When guests come and eat with us at Onze, I hope they will be transported to other times of their life through my dishes.”

Onze in Dubai’s menu includes salmon taquitos, tuna tataki, ceviche and corn robata. The chef’s favourites include the lobster tempura made with sparkling water, and the veggie take on the miso black cod, which is made with three-day marinated cauliflower. Plus, the desserts range from tres leches with milk from Hokkaido and sugar from Okinawa in Japan, to milk cake topped with a meringue hand-painted with gold.

When the sun goes down, the volume gets turned up. Expect a line-up of DJs and a soundtrack of Afro house, melodic chillout and disco tracks.

Onze in Dubai

As for the name Onze itself, it comes from the French word for 11 and has a unique meaning in Japanese culture. When the two digits are added together to make two, this represents success and a fiery spirit.

Sounds like a good combo to us.
