Hattem Mattar has been making a name for himself as the UAE’s BBQ master. We’re excited as the acclaimed chef has announced that he is re-launching his seasonal concept, Fiya. The restaurant re-opened on Monday, 20 November and is located in Meydan’s Keturah Reserve.
Fiya showcases Hattem’s signature BBQ skills, which earned him the title of the ‘first Arab pitmaster’. At Fiya, there are four main fire stations and an open grill. The menu is inspired by the team’s travels and focuses on fire-based cuisines, including grilled meats, slow roasted Wagyu and a delightful Chocolate Cremeux. The emphasis is on a sharing concept, as guests are encouraged to gather around the fire.
Fiya is located in Keturah Reserve, which is home to The Park, a 300,000-foot green space with thousand-year-old olive trees. Plus, Hattem has collaborated with the team behind Pinza! and Matcha Club to create this unique experience.
Hattem’s business has an unlikely origin story, as he started his business in his own backyard. The Mattar Farm began in his Al Barsha home. At the farm, you’d find goats, rabbits, vegetables and herbs. Hattem went on to collaborate with restaurants including BB Social Dining and LDC Kitchen. Plus, he became a culinary ambassador to the UAE Embassy in the United States – not bad for a homegrown business.
Over the years, Hattem has cooked for celebrity guests including sports superstar Mohamed Salah, who even broke one of his windows with a football. Plus, other guests have included Renzo Gracie, Dana White and Paul Pogba.
Fiya in Dubai will be open daily from 5.30pm to midnight. Feel the heat.
