Fine-dining concept Belcanto will take up residence on its rooftop in early 2022.

With the dazzling performances at Dubai Opera transporting guests to faraway places by way of elaborate sets, poignant dialogue and world-renowned orchestras, returning to reality can be a bit of a let-down, but the upcoming launch of experiential dining concept Belcanto is sure to keep the excitement going. Residing on the rooftop of the city’s most iconic cultural venue, it is expected to open its doors in early 2022.

The breathtaking venue has been designed by the acclaimed Paul Bishop, who was inspired by quintessential Italian styling and aesthetics, incorporating elements that build on Belcanto’s unique dining and European flair. Guests will feel welcomed and hosted in a refined manner, wrapped in contemporary details and new design methods. Andrey Fomin, Partner and Art Director of Belcanto says, “We wanted to create not just a fashionable, but timeless experience. Belcanto is a classic place where European classics meet modernity, which is conveyed in the details.” Curated by a team of award-winning chefs, Belcanto has interpreted Italian classics and dining at Dubai Opera with a contemporary twist, inviting guests to discover the exceptional beauty of a sensual culinary experience orchestrated through each of the five senses.

The unique concept has been brought to the UAE by Restart 354, the regional expansion of the Vasilchuk Brothers’ Restart, one of Europe’s largest restaurant groups. The group has curated an outstanding line-up of talents across the kitchen, bar, management teams and creative visionaries, and aims to offer an extravaganza of culinary excellence to Dubai. Diners are invited to embrace a menu orchestrated by Brand Chef Giacomo Lombardi, who brings a unique combination of tradition and innovation to his role, with dishes representing ultra-modern and classic Italian flavours. Born in Tuscany and gaining his wide experience in France, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco and South Korea, Lombardi is renowned for popularising Italian cuisine and elevating guest experiences at some of the world’s most popular F&B venues.

A world champion of Neapolitan pizza, Chef Vincenzo Palermo will offer guests a culinary journey to the heart of Italy with his expertise in making authentic Italian pizza. Having grown up in a family of pizza-makers from Gravina in Puglia, south of Italy, Palermo has been passionate about cooking since the young age of 14, and it’s sure to be evident in his masterpieces at Belcanto. Pastry Chef Anthony Falcone, meanwhile, brings his expertise from a variety of Michelin-star restaurants, promising to showcase a diverse selection of world-class pastries. Mikhail Melnik, award-winning Chef Bartender from The World’s 50 Best Bars for five consecutive years, will bring his experience to the bar at Belcanto. His passion and perseverance have helped him achieve several accolades, including being named as one of the top three bartenders in 2019 by Barproof and winning the Ultimate Bartender Championship in Russia three times.
