Al Wasl Vita Mall welcomes the Mediterranean restaurant.
We love a good homegrown success story, so we are thrilled to see that Fat Uncle has opened in Al Wasl Vita Mall in Jumeirah. The Turkish executive chef Alper Uzundurukan has teamed up with Emirati restaurateur Ismail Al-Sharif to launch the new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant.
Fat Uncle in Dubai aims to serve haute cuisine in a humble setting. The refined yet rustic space boasts dim lighting, dark wooden accents, brown leather banquettes and polished marble tops. Plus, the woodfire is both practical and decorative, as you’ll find it stacked up by the kitchen and under the sofas.
Fat Uncle in Dubai has a mouthwatering menu – think scallop gratin soaked in Gruyere cheese, tender grilled lobster thermidor, cured beef tartar with bone marrow, and A5 Japanese Hokkaido Wagyu. When only Instagrammable cocktails will do, you’ll be excited to see that the drinks come with Flavour Blaster bubbles and dry ice aplenty.
Chef Alper says: “We want to reveal the true beauty of simplicity in our cooking. With quality ingredients, state-of-the-art equipment, the Josper oven, and humble cooking techniques, we are able to cultivate rich and memorable dishes.”
Diners are in safe hands, as Chef Alper has an enviable restaurant record. He was previously at the helm of Dubai restaurants including The Maine and La Cantine du Faubourg. Plus, he has the Zuma seal of approval, as he worked in the Istanbul branch.
Visitors can choose from sitting indoors and outdoors, as there is a large patio that is covered and ventilated – yes please for the summer. Despite being in Al Wasl Vita Mall, the venue also has its own entrance, valet service, and is open daily from midday to midnight.
We’re looking forward to feeling part of the family at Fat Uncle.
