Twelve new beverages are inspired by the life of eccentric French artist Jean Cocteau.
Fancy French Mediterranean restaurant, LPM Restaurant & Bar will launch an exciting global beverage menu on Monday, 5 July.
Coinciding with the birthday of influential French artist and writer, Jean Cocteau from whom the new beverage menu draws inspiration, the new drinks look set to subvert expectations with a range of exciting flavours and a distinct flair for innovative presentation.
Designed by the LPM’s Global Bar Manager Tibor Krascsenics, the menu has been a labour of love with intense research and plenty of creativity utilised in the twelve-month period it has taken to bring the sensory new menu to fruition.
While many may know the FACT award-winning LPM Restaurant & Bar for its French Mediterranean and Niçoise cuisine, the new end-to-end thematic experience puts the venues eclectic new beverages front and centre.
The new menu infuses beverages with history and the fantastical artwork of Jean Cocteau. Like a novel written during La Belle Époque, the menu comprises four chapters, highlighting a place that Jean Cocteau once called home. In each chapter, three beverages are showcased – each a person or event that marked the artist’s life.
While we don’t want to spoil the surprises, the Instagramable Trinity is inspired by Louis Cartier’s iconic ring – which was influenced by one of Jean’s dreams about Saturnian forms. Each intertwined ring is made from different gold and embodies the various stages of a relationship – love, fidelity and friendship. Featuring cane, cacao, strawberry, Islay honey water and bitters, and served in a levitating glass. This is one drink you don’t want to miss.
Similarly, the elegant Lettre à Coco represents the remarkable friendship between Jean and Coco Chanel. The beverage features of jasmine, bergamot and rose – the aromatics of her signature perfume Coco, misted onto the glass.
LPM’s Global Bar Manager Tibor Krascsenics, commented: “We thought it would be an incredible project, to create a bar menu inspired by Jean Cocteau’s life and to launch it on the anniversary of his birthday. The year-long project has been a labour of love, with the end result being a testament to one of the greatest figures of the 20th century – and one of its most versatile artists. Jean loved the French Riviera; it influenced his life, and this is visible through his work. But he too greatly influenced the French Riviera, with his lifestyle and art – several Cocteau treasures can be found on the French Riviera.”
The new menu will be launch in LPM Restaurant & Bar Dubai and Abu Dhabi on 5 July 2021, before being rolled out in Miami, London and Hong Kong by the end of the year.
