The mall will expand with 65 new shops and restaurants.

Just when you thought Dubai Mall couldn’t get any bigger. The world’s largest shopping mall is set to expand with a new department. The area will open at the start of Ramadan, and here’s what to expect.

Dubai Mall is set to expand with 65 new shops and restaurants. Located on the Ice Rink and Level Shoes, it will bring a range of offerings to the mall. While we don’t yet know the brands, renders of the space have been revealed, and it has gotten us buzzing with excitement.

In true Dubai-style, Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, announced the plans on Instagram. The images show a bright and airy space with silver and white tones, potted plants, a statement atrium and light features. In the post, Mohamed stated: “Exciting news! A brand-new section at Dubai Mall is set to open at the beginning of Ramadan, featuring 65 incredible exclusive brands and food and beverage”.

In 2008, the mall opened with approximately 1,000 shops. It was originally called The Dubai Mall and then – like Facebook – dropped “the”. The venue attracts locals as well as tourists from around the world. In 2023, it received a record 105 million visitors. In 2024, Emaar Properties announced an AED 1.5 million expansion of the mall.

While Dubai Mall is home to a range of shops, restaurants and cafés, it’s also a sight in itself. The area includes top tourist sights: Burj Khalifa, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Mall Chinatown and The Dubai Fountain.
