The chef is behind MICHELIN-starred restaurants around the world.
Jeddah, you’re in for a culinary treat. Italian chef Pino Lavarra, who is behind a MICHELIN-starred restaurant, has created a concept in the city. Located in Ash Shati, the Italian restaurant Zilos is now open, and here’s what you need to know.
Zilos in Jeddah draws its inspiration from Pino’s grandmother’s cooking. The menu spans classic pasta dishes to fresh seafood. The team pride themselves on making everything from scratch. The pastas include Orrecchiette Ca Muddica, Ravioli Ricotta and Rigatoni E Tartufo. Main dishes also include Chicken Alla Diavola, Salt Bake Sea Bass and Veal Milanese.
Pino hails from Puglia, Italy. He was inspired by his mother’s cooking, and trained at the catering school, Castellana Grotte. He has worked across the world in Germany, Italy and Malaysia. In 2001, he moved back to Italy. After he became the Executive Chef of Rossellinis, which was awarded one MICHELIN Star and later two MICHELIN Stars. He also worked for Tosca in Hong Kong, which was awarded one MICHELIN Star.
Pino is now working as the Executive Chef at Al Messila, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Doha in Qatar. He oversees all of the culinary experiences, and the signature restaurant, Deli Kitchen. He also focuses on sustainability, and healthy dining options. Plus, he created the Chef in a Villa option, which allows guests to create private dining experiences in a villa.
Zilos in Jeddah is open daily from 6pm to 2am.
