The Grammy Award winner makes her Saudi Arabia debut.
Ready or not, the American singer and songwriter, Ms. Lauryn Hill, is coming to Saudi Arabia. The star will sing at AlUla’s Maraya Concert Hall on 22 February. So, if you’re after that thing, that thing, that thing, here’s what you need to know.
Lauryn hails from New Jersey, United States. She was originally part of the hip-hop group, Fugees. The group consisted of Pras Michel and Wyclef John. The group’s hit singles ranged from Fu-Gee-La to Ready or Not. It was the cover of Killing Me Softly, however, which put them onto the international stage and topped the charts in more than 20 countries.
Lauryn’s solo career is defined by the album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Released in 1997, it won five Grammy Awards. The album included collaborations with Carlos Santana, D’Angelo and Mary J. Blige. The hits from the album include Doo Wop (That Thing), Everything is Everything and Ex-Factor.
Lauryn later went into a self-imposed exile. As she no longer regularly tours, this is a rare chance to see the singer. She is no stranger to the region, however, as she performed at Dubai Jazz Festival in 2020. Now, she will be performing for the first time in Saudi Arabia.
If you’re visiting AlUla, make sure to visit its historical sights. The area is home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hegra. Plus, AlUla Old Town has been recognised by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation as the Best Tourism Village in 2022.
