Watch headliner Portuguese DJ Hozho make his Saudi Arabian debut.

Put your hands in the air. Desert Sounds, a new music festival, is coming to Saudi Arabia. The event brings together world-class DJs and sees Portuguese DJ Hozho make his debut in the Kingdom. Taking place on Friday, 3 March from 7pm until 4am, here’s what you need to know about the concert.

Desert Sounds in Riyadh includes local and international DJs, spanning electronic, house and techno music. The line-up includes Dish Dash, Khrestovski, Misha Saied, Narkbeat and Psykey

DJ Hozho, real name Joel Monteiro, hails from Portugal. Deadmau5 wears a mouse mask, Daft Punk have futuristic helmets, and DJ Hozho wears a beak mask. He has been spotted wearing different styles, from a gas mark-inspired one to a Greek tragedy-esque facial covering.

During his headline set, he will showcase what he calls Melodark. The sound is characterised by a mix of harmonious melodies with dark synths and basslines. The result is songs with a minimal techno beat, which last more than seven minutes and feel like the calm in the eye of a storm.

We’re expecting him to play his hit songs, which include Full Measures, Honey Trap, Sitting in this Cage and Something Else. Plus, tracks from his albums including Psychological Issues and Yin Yang.

If you want to make a night of it, Desert Sounds in Riyadh brings together music with art and culture. Look out for art installations and pop-up food stalls.

Tickets to Desert Sounds in Riyadh are available now. General admission early bird passes start from SAR 395, and general admission late passes start from SAR 495. VIP backstage early bird passes start from SAR 795, and VIP backstage late passes start from SAR 995. Plus, keep an eye on the festival’s Instagram account, as there are ticket giveaways.
