Cosefan in Riyadh opens a cool cultural café
The Diriyah café hosts art and music nights.
A new cultural hub offering art, music and some top-notch coffee has opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Cosefan has opened on Prince Abdullah bin Abdelrahman in Diriyah, and is a cool hangout for the capital’s creatives.
Cosefan’s name is inspired by the words cosy, fun and fan. The combined words represent the brand’s mission to create an artistic hub that is both comfortable yet entertaining and popular with locals. As a result, the café has a relaxed, welcoming vibe and guests are encouraged to linger as there are books on the shelves and board games on the tables, which range from chess sets to Pandemic.
The creators behind Cosefan clearly love nature, as the café is packed with more than 1,500 plants. Scattered inside and outside of the café are different types of plants, which range from cedar trees to pear trees.
Inside, you’ll find wooden benches, patterned rugs and shades of blue covering the walls. The blue continues on the coffee cups, which are embossed with the gold logo in both English and Arabic. Plus, the menu includes karaks, cortados and fun flavoured ice teas – a mango and mandarin iced tea, anyone?
Cosefan hosts fun music nights, which attract a local crowd. The music nights have welcomed group performances by Arabic singers and musicians, plus solo performances by cellists and saxophonists.
Cosefan is committed to nurturing artists, as the brand’s tagline states: “Be an artist”. The art events include workshops and talks, which have ranged from pencil drawing to calligraphy classes. Plus, the venue is decorated with artwork, as there are framed pieces on the walls and canvases on the ceiling.
Cosefan is open from 9am to 9pm on Thursday and Friday. Come for the coffee, stay for the art.
