Eat your way around the European Food Festival in Riyadh

Taking place in the Diplomatic Quarter, it showcases cuisine from Finland to France.

The Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh is one of the most international districts in the capital, thanks to its array of embassies and expat communities. Now, it’s showcasing its multicultural munchies, as the European Food Festival is making a grand return to the capital.

Running from 24 to 25 October, the European Food Festival in Riyadh takes place at Al Kindi Plaza and is organised by the Ministry of Culture and Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The festival celebrates the very best of European cuisine and brings together food from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.

At the festival site, we’re expecting everything from sweet to savoury dishes. Our stomachs are rumbling just thinking about Austrian schnitzels, Belgium chocolates and freshly baked French fancies, from croissants to madeleines.

Visitors will be able to make a day of the festival, as it’s not just about food. Guests will also be treated to a line-up of live music and entertainment.

Diplomatic Quarter, also known as Al Safarat, is located south east of the capital and spans more than 800 hectares The district as we know it today was created in 1975, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs relocated from Jeddah to Riyadh. Today, it is home to a buzzing restaurant scene and Rock Park, which boasts walking trails, picnic spots and football pitches.

Admission to the European Food Festival in Riyadh is free. Come hungry.
