A glittering Elvis Presley exhibition opens in Riyadh

Check out the rock and roll legend’s memorabilia, from costumes to a Cadillac.

Elvis has entered the building. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture has announced that Elvis: Direct from Graceland is taking place in the Kingdom. Running until 20 March at The Arena Riyadh Venue for Exhibitions, it celebrates the life and legacy of the rock and roll legend.

Visitors will be able to get a rare glimpse of Elvis memorabilia, ranging from costumes to music. Judging from when the exhibition toured the globe, we’re expecting Elvis highlights including glittering jumpsuits, embroidered capes and a bright red Cadillac.

The Ministry of Culture shared on Instagram: “The Ministry of Culture is preparing to organise an international exhibition entitled Elvis: Direct from Graceland, which reviews the cultural experience in the life of American music legend and King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley.”

Elvis was born in Mississippi and grew up in Memphis. His first single, Heartbreak Hotel, was released in 1956. He went on to transform rock and roll music, notching up hits including Always on my Mind, Jailhouse Rock and Love me Tender.

He was one of the music industry’s first-ever slashies, as he crossed over into the movie industry with films ranging from Love Me Tender to Viva Las Vegas. He has won three Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award when he was only 36 years old. Today, he is one of the biggest-selling artists of all time, having sold over 500 million records.

Elvis: Direct from Graceland is open daily from 4pm to 11pm. Tickets start from SAR 75 and cost SAR 100 for a VIP ticket. Tickets are available now.
