Join screenings, filmmaker talks and a fantastic food day.


Lights, camera, Jeddah. Weekly Cinema Nights have returned to the cultural city as part of the Islamic Arts Biennale 2025. Running from 6 February to 22 May, it has been curated with the Red Sea Film Foundation and in partnership with the Diriyah Biennale Foundation. 

Now in its second edition, Cinema Nights will host public screenings in the Western Hajj Terminal in Jeddah. The screenings run every Thursday and feature a diverse selection of 23 Saudi Arabian and international films. Plus, there will be appearances by filmmakers and actors, Q&A sessions, a Saudi Shorts Weekend celebrating local storytellers, and a food symposium day, celebrating films with food in them.

At Cinema Nights, viewers can enjoy cinema from the region. The event launched with the screening of the Saudi Arabian film, Saify, and will conclude with Taghrid Abouelhassan’s film, Snow White. Created by the Egyptian Director, Snow White is a light-hearted story about marriage, disability and sisterhood. Mariam Sherif plays Iman, and stands at 119 centimetres tall and dreams of finding true love. Plus, the Emirati short film Children of Barzagh received a Special Jury Mention.

Shivani Pandya Malhotra, the Managing Director of the Red Sea Film Foundation, said: “We are proud to continue our partnership with the Diriyah Biennale Foundation and showcase a new roster of outstanding storytelling from across regions. Through our partnership we aim to build and sustain a creative eco-systems that not only champions storytelling and creativity but also builds bridges between cultures, peoples and points of view.”
