These 12 films are must-watch during this edition.

Jeddah is once again gearing up to host the highly-anticipated Red Sea International Film Festival. Taking place this December, the festival will once again see movies and movie stars come together to celebrate the silver screen in the Red Sea city. And in order to give film buffs a sneak peek into what to expect, a lineup of Festival Favourites has been announced.

Films under Festival Favourites showcase cultural diversity and overcome geographic and linguistic divides to portray art that transcends borders. Through this, the Red Sea International Film Festival also aims to highlight voices that need to be heard.

The Red Sea International Film Festival, taking place from 5 to 14 December, will showcase 12 films as part of Festival Favourites. These movies have wowed film critics around the world, and their screening in Jeddah promises to do the same.

Festival Favourites will include Agora with talent coming in from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tunisia and France, Black Dog from China, East of Noon from Egypt, Netherlands and Qatar and Familiar Touch from the USA. Freedom Way from Nigeria, The Inevitable Journey to Find a Wedding Dress from Egypt and The Legend of the Vagabond Queen of Lagos, backed by multiple countries, are also on the agenda. Lastly, Little Jaggna from France, Quiet Life from Europe, Santosh from Germany, France and the UK, and U Are The Universe from Ukraine and Belgium will also form part of the Red Sea International Film Festival.

This year marks the fourth edition of the Red Sea Film Festival, which will run under the theme of The New Home of Film. Taking place at the UNESCO Heritage site, Al Balad, the theme signifies Jeddah as a new yet permanent home for cinema.
