The festival runs from 5 to 14 December.


Film enthusiasts, get ready to have your cinematic senses dazzled because the Red Sea International Film Festival is returning for its fourth edition this year. The Red Sea International Film Festival has made its mark on the Kingdom’s cultural scene and welcomed the biggest stars from around the world. Now, the American film director Spike Lee will preside over the Red Sea: Features Competition jury. 

The Red Sea International Film Festival runs from 5 to 14 December and brings together local as well as international films. The event takes place in Al Balad, Jeddah, and includes film screenings, panel discussions and premieres. 

Red Sea: Features Competition brings together filmmakers from across Middle East, Asia and Africa. The competition includes 16 films, which will be judged by the jury and win the Yusr Award. 

Spike hails from Georgia, United States. In 1986, he made his directorial debut with She’s Gotta Have It. His films often cover pressing issues on race, politics and identity. His films include BlacKkKlansman, Do The Right Thing, Jungle Fever and Malcolm X. Over his career, he was won an Academy Award, BAFTA Award and Emmy Award. Plus, he is behind the production company, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks. 

In the past, the Red Sea International Film Festival has welcomed A-list celebrities from Bollywood to Hollywood. In 2023, the jury was made up of Amina Khalil, Joel Kinnaman, Frieda Pinto and Paz Vega. The Australian film director, Baz Luhrmann presided over the jury. Plus, celebrities who previously attended the festival include Ed Westwick, Johnny Depp, Lucas Bravo, Will Smith and Sophia Vergara.
