The alfresco fun takes place this May in Juman Park.

Get into the groove, Saudi Arabia. The music festival Groove on the Grass is returning to Jeddah. Taking place on Friday, 2 May, it looks set to be an exciting event, bringing together local and international acts.

Groove on the Grass in Jeddah takes place outdoors in Juman Park, located within King Abdullah Economic City. The open-air event is a wonderful way to enjoy live music and take advantage of the cooler weather. Shkoon will headline the event, and the lineup includes Blacky, Deian, Dish Dash, Hats & Klaps, Leen, Sébastien Léger, Smhar and Vinyl Mode

Shkoon is a German–Syrian electronic duo blending Arabic folklore with Western electronic music. Formed in 2015 by Ameen Khayer and Thorben Diekmann, they craft immersive soundscapes that bridge cultural divides, as showcased in albums like Rima and Masrahiya. Meanwhile French DJ and producer, Sébastien Léger is renowned for his melodic house and techno tracks.

Vinyl Mode, the alias of Saudi DJ Muhanned Nasser, is a key figure in Jeddah’s underground scene. Since 2005, he’s been instrumental in shaping Saudi Arabia’s electronic music landscape, infusing his sets with diverse cultural influences. Dish Dash, comprising Saudi brothers Hassan and Abbas Ghazzawi, are pioneers in the Middle Eastern electronic scene. Known for their dynamic tech-house sets, they’ve performed at major events like MDLBeast and Tomorrowland, promoting regional talent.

Groove on the Grass has been running for almost ten years and originated in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In February 2022, the festival returned to the UAE with a twist and was held at Dunes Resort in Ras Al Khaimah. The event has been held in Saudi Arabia multiple times, with previous events taking place in Jeddah and Riyadh. This year’s event marks the sixth edition of the festival in Saudi Arabia, as it made its debut in 2022.

The festival has been influential in the Middle East’s music scene, introducing more than 180 artists to the region. Plus, it has been key in showcasing local dance acts to a wider market.
