The MasterChef judge is making his debut in the kingdom.
We have some exciting foodie news. Celebrity chef, Alvin Leung, is making his debut in Saudi Arabia. The chef will be taking over Shangri-La Jeddah’s signature restaurant, Shang Palace, and we are expecting some dining drama.
Alvin previously starred as a judge on MasterChef Canada and has restaurants around the world. The English-born, Hong Kong Canadian chef has used his melting pot background to help create restaurants across the world in London, Shanghai, Toronto and Dubai.
Demon Duck opened in March 2022 inside Caesars Palace Dubai, and made its way into the MICHELIN Guide Dubai after three months. Plus, he has won three MICHELIN Stars: two for Bo Innovation in Hong Kong, and one for Bo London.
We met Alvin last year and asked him about expanding in the region. He shared: “Yes, I have offers and I am interested. I have been bitten by the Middle East bug. I love the people, they are friendly, accommodating and open. It would be a dream for me to open more premises in the Middle East.”
Shang Palace’s Executive Chef is Keith Yeap, and he is behind the award-winning menu. The restaurant prides itself on creating Cantonese, Sichuan and Yunnan cuisine. Plus, the signature dishes range from the Xiao Long Bao to Peking Duck.
We’re intrigued.
