Japanese restaurant Mashi No Mashi makes its debut in Saudi Arabia

The wagyu ramen restaurant is opening in Jeddah Yacht Club.

You’ll want to dig your chopsticks into Mashi no Mashi. The Japanese wagyu ramen restaurant has fans across the world, and is now making its debut in Saudi Arabia. Located in Jeddah Yacht Club, here’s what to expect from the new restaurant.

The Japanese restaurant was created by Hisato Hamada, the chef turned wagyu expert and entrepreneur. In 2016, he launched the fine dining members-only restaurant WAGYUMAFIA in Tokyo. In 2019, he launched Mashi no Mashi in Hong Kong, and diners were desperate to visit the 12-seater venue.

The restaurant draws its inspiration from Chef Hisato’s childhood memories. The name itself means to eat more and more in Japanese. Plus, it has a playful tagline: “Slurp like a boss.”

The menu is all about wagyu ramen. The restaurant serves authentic Japanese street cuisine with bowls of Jiro-style wagyu ramen. The signature dish is the Wagyujiro. The ramen is made using Kobe ribs and thigh bones, which are stewed for 24 hours.

So far, we know that the restaurant will boast an interactive setting and live cooking station. The chefs will serve ramen bowls in their signature arm-outstretched stance, encouraging Insta-moments in the iconic pose. Plus, the décor includes neon signs, monkey mascots and pop art.

Hisato Hamada explained: “I feel deeply honoured to have the opportunity to bring Mashi no Mashi all the way from Hong Kong to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was when I first visited Saudi in 2020 that I introduced my speciality ramen, Wagyujiro, which became an instant success selling hundreds of bowls during my participation in Riyadh Season.

“The demand for Wagyujiro was so huge that I even had visiting chefs come to join me in making and trying the ramen, which I still think of as the most meaningful part of the trip. I hope that Wagyujiro can become a symbol of unity and love through which guests can create beautiful moments, just like the ones I shared during my time in the Kingdom.”

Mashi No Mashi joins Emmy Squared Pizza, Le Comptoir De Nicole, and Marina Social at Jeddah Yacht Club and will open its doors on Wednesday, 10 May.
