Lights, camera, concerts – AMC Cinemas will host fun shows, ranging from music to comedy.

We all know that the cinema is a place to watch films, but AMC Cinemas is switching things up, as it launches Live at AMC in Saudi Arabia. The new live entertainment nights will showcase cool content ranging from concerts to comedy.

Live at AMC aims to change the way that people experience live entertainment in Saudi Arabia, hence the cinema setting for live shows. So, you can still settle into one of AMC’s reclining seats and munch your way through popcorn, but you’ll be giggling away at a stand-up comic rather than the new Ryan Reynolds blockbuster.

Live at AMC’s upcoming events promise to bring together a wide selection of quality content, which includes talented local as well as international performers. If the first event is anything to go by, you will want to have future ones on your radar. Live at AMC launched on 25 August with a stand-up comedy night at AMC Cinemas flagship venue in Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District. The night included comedians Mishal Samman, better known as Meesh from KSA; Canadian stand-up, Allyson June Smith; and British comic, Joe Jacobs.

Since AMC have been innovators in Saudi Arabia, as it was the first global cinema operator in the country, we are expecting Live at AMC to continue to showcase an exciting line-up of performers. Cinemas are a place of cultural significance in Saudi Arabia, especially after they reopened in 2018. Plus, the first film that was screened was the superhero flick, Black Panther, at AMC Cinemas in Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District.

Today, families and friends flock together to the cinema for the biggest releases ranging from Hollywood to Bollywood, and Egyptian comedies to Arabic dramas. The Ministry of Culture has gone so far as to predict that there will be 350 cinemas and 2,500 screens by 2030, all in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Sounds like a plan that we can get behind.
