The superstar shares shots from his trip on social media. But why is Will Smith in Neom?
Saudis are more accustomed to seeing the American actor Will Smith on their screens, rather than the streets of the Kingdom. The superstar recently arrived in the country for the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah and has shared his trip on social media. His latest destination is Neom, and here’s what he made of the megaproject.
In a video on Instagram of Will Smith in Neom, he stated: “This is crazy, hold on, this is crazy.” He was seen standing between two soaring rocks, and later in a helicopter overlooking the landscape. The caption read: “Shots from my first trip to NEOM! This place is unreal! They’re building some of the wildest futuristic places I’ve ever seen here.”
The images show Will with his arms out, embracing Neom. He also shared shots of Neom’s islands under construction. On his trip, he is seen walking across the desert, playing basketball and visiting an outdoor cinema.
Will hails from Philadelphia, United States. He rose to fame in the American TV series, Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The show was a fictionalised version of himself and follows a Philadelphia-born boy who moves to Los Angeles.
Will moved from the small screen to the silver screen. He starred in the Hollywood films Ali, Bad Boys, Hitch, Men in Black and Suicide Squad. In 2022, he won an Academy Award for his role in King Richard, and made headlines when he slapped the ceremony’s presenter Chris Rock.
The Red Sea International Film Festival runs from 30 November to 9 December.
