Saudi Arabia promises a sky-high football extravaganza in Neom

The Neom Stadium will be perched 350 metres above ground and is the latest addition to the 2034 FIFA World Cup venues.

Saudi Arabia is on a stadium-building spree, with plans to construct 15 new stadiums across the Kingdom for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. In a strategic move, the country has announced the construction of a world-class stadium in Neom, attracting crowds to Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious megaproject.

The Neom Stadium will be located on levels four and five of the upcoming The Line. With a seating capacity of over 45,000, including 4,000 hospitality seats, 1,200 sky box seats, 100 VVIP seats, and 800 VIP seats, an innovative design will place the stadium 350 metres above the ground. Visitors will not only be able to enjoy the matches but also get breathtaking views of the Red Sea and the vast landscapes.

Beyond its role as a sports venue, the Neom Stadium will be a central hub for community and cultural activities. It will be home to both men’s and women’s professional football clubs and will host major events year-round.

The Neom Stadium will be linked to a network of tram-like vehicles running through “horizontal transport corridors”. These driverless vehicles and high-speed lifts will ensure seamless access for all. For those who like to get their steps in, short walk-throughs — that are fully electric — will also be available to get around the stadium and its multiple facilities. Boasting cutting-edge technology, from e-ticket gates to 4K Ultra HD broadcasting, the viewer experience will reach new heights.

The Neom Stadium will also align with Saudi Arabia’s efforts towards sustainability. The entire complex will run on renewable energy, primarily sourced from wind and solar power.

In addition to the Neom Stadium, a FIFA Fan Festival site will be built at The Line, where other events related to the tournament will take place. More venues will open nearby to accommodate the influx of fans heading to Neom to experience the thrill of the FIFA World Cup.

Construction of the Neom Stadium will begin in 2027, with completion aimed for 2032. Once ready, the World Cup quarter-finals are expected to take place at the venue.
