Discover historic sights, from Lawrence of Arabia’s home to long lost shipwrecks.

Saudi Arabia is filled with dazzling destinations. While most people visit Jeddah, Riyadh and, of course, Mecca, there are plenty of places off the beaten track. Thanks to Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom opened to tourists in 2019. The country is one of the final frontiers when it comes to tourism and contains hidden gems within a hidden gem.

Yanbu, also known as Yambu or Yenbo, derives its name from the springs that originate in the city. Located in the Madinah Province, it is in close proximity to the Red Sea and is often overlooked for the nearby Jeddah. Yanbu is one of the two main Red Sea hubs for underwater adventures and boasts a history dating back more than 2,000 years – Lawrence of Arabia’s former home, anyone?

The best time to visit Yanbu is from October to May, and the temperature reaches a high of 29 degrees Celsius in the winter. During February to March, the Yanbu Flower Festival is in full bloom, and includes horticultural events.
