Check out this exploration of the hours between sunset and sunrise.
What do you do when the sun sets? In the Night at Saudi Museum of Contemporary Art explores this question. Running from 15 February to 20 May, it is all about the night, and how people spend the time between sunset and sunrise.
In the Night at JAX District has been created in support of His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud and His Excellency Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez. The show brings together more than 30 local and international artists from Argentina, Croatia, France, India, Japan, Morocco, Pakistan and Tunisia.
In the Night at JAX District showcases work in different mediums. The exhibition includes installations, paintings, sculptures and videos. French Moroccan artist, Mustapha Azeroual’s Ellios uses monochrome photographs, while Polish artist Katarya Wiesiolek’s Light Pillars features strobe lights, and is inspired by the cosmos.
South African artist Claudia Tennant’s I’m Sorry uses textiles, and explores how textiles can hold memories. Yugoslavian artist Nadezda Nikolova’s Elemental Forms uses brushes, paper and photographs, and is inspired by landscapes.
It’s not just about the exhibition. If you’re an art aficionado, look out for the range of panel discussions and workshops for all ages. Plus, other exhibitions in Riyadh include Tuwaiq Sculpture, which brings together sculptors from around the world, and Imagine Picasso, which is an exploration of Pablo Picasso’s work.
In the Night is open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 10pm. Tickets are available now and are free. Check in with FACT for the latest things to do in Riyadh.
