The space will include artwork, cinemas and events.

Riyadh is set to welcome a spectacular site, the Royal Arts Complex in King Salman Park. The King Salman Park Foundation and the Ministry of Culture have collaborated on the development, which will serve as a hub for arts and culture in the capital.

Designed by the Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill, the Royal Arts Complex will blend together modern as well as traditional architecture. The design will include Salmani features, and aims to create a unique cultural experience. Visitors will be able to enjoy greenery alongside world-class artists’ experiences.

The Royal Arts Complex will include seven distinct areas and offerings, which align with Saudi Vision 2030. The Museum of World Cultures will rise to a height of 110 metres, and the National Theatre will be able to seat up to 2,300 people.

The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts will house three academies. The Institute will contain The Academy of Traditional Visual Arts, Academy of Cultural Heritage and Restoration, and Academy of Theatrical Arts.

The Royal Arts Complex will house three cinemas to host local and international events. The library specialises in culture, and boasts 500,000 books focused on the arts. The artwork will include a sculpture and pavilion. The space will also feature a dome shape, which will host artists and events.

When completed, King Salman Park aims to be the largest urban park in the world. It is projected to be more than seven times the size of London’s Hyde Park and five times the size of New York’s Central Park. It has also been reported that the $450 million Leonardo Da Vinci painting, Salvator Mundi, will be located inside the park.
