The award-winning composer is coming to Riyadh Season.

Saudi Arabia has been welcoming stars from around the world. Now, it is set to welcome the award-winning composer, Hans Zimmer. Ahead of his show in Riyadh, he has been asked to reimagine the Kingdom’s national anthem.

Saudi Arabian’s anthem, Aash Al-Malik, translates to Long Live The King. It was written in 1947 by Egyptian composer, Abdul Rahman Al-Khateeb.

General Entertainment Authority chairman, Turki Alalshikh, explained: “We discussed a lot about many future projects that I hope will see the light of day soon including rearranging the Saudi national anthem with different instruments”.

Hans has been approached to create a Saudi Arabian musical, Arabia, and the soundtrack for the forthcoming Saudi Arabian film, The Battle of Yarmuk. Turki added: “We agreed on the broad outlines of all these projects and I hope we will reach a final agreement on them.”

Hans hails from Frankfurt, Germany. Despite disliking formal piano lessons as a child and being thrown out of eight schools, he managed to create a music career. He went from joining a band to composing advertising jingles. Today, he is the head of the film music division at DreamWorks.

Over Han’s career, he has won two Academy Awards. He has worked on more than 150 films, which include Dune, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Last Samurai and The Lion King

Hans is no stranger to the Middle East. Hans Zimmer Live in Riyadh will take place on 24 January 2025 at Blvd City, and Hans Zimmer Live in Abu Dhabi will take place on 31 May 2025 at Etihad Arena.
