The Candlelight Concerts series has arrived in Saudi Arabia
Taking place in the capital of Riyadh, the multisensory musical experience kicks off with tributes to Coldplay and the works of Chopin.
Played by flickering candlelight, the Candlelight Concerts series brings one-of-a-kind concerts to more than 150 locations worldwide — Dubai, London, Madrid, New York, Singapore and Tokyo included. Now, entertainment platform Fever is bringing the series to Saudi Arabia, kicking off with two captivating performances in Riyadh: a tribute to Coldplay’s greatest hits and the leading works of legendary composer Frédéric Chopin.
Both A Tribute to Coldplay and Chopin’s Best Works will be showcased at the historical Cultural Palace in Riyadh on 15 December at 6:30pm and 8:30pm respectively, providing the perfect setting for an evening of musical enchantment. These concerts will be brought to life by talented pianist Aldo Dotto and include classical renditions of Coldplay and Chopin’s greatest hits. “We are delighted to bring the Candlelight Concert series to Saudi Arabia, providing audiences that might have never considered classical music before, with a magical and immersive musical experience to connect with the most iconic pieces of the greatest composers and listen to the top hits of well-known artists in a different way,” says Rachid Laurent El Ameri, Regional General Manager of Fever, MENA.
For the uninitiated, Fever aims to democratise access to classical music with the help of this innovative format that provides a unique musical experience — spaces are illuminated by thousands of candles as local musicians perform live in emblematic venues. Launched in 2019, these concerts of varying scale have been hosted in all kinds of idyllic locations ranging from modern rooftops with great views to palaces, libraries, gardens and more. Amongst the most iconic of these locations have been the Atomium (Brussels), Burj Al Arab Jumeirah (Dubai), Central Hall Westminster (London), Niagara Falls (Ontario), Palau de la Musica Catalana (Barcelona), Tour Eiffel (Paris), and Victoria Hall (Geneva).
The series was initially conceived as a classical music series with concerts featuring works by renowned composers such as Vivaldi and Mozart. Now, the ever-growing list of programmes includes a wide variety of themes and genres, including tributes to the likes of ABBA, Ed Sheeran and Queen, as well as shows dedicated to anime, movie soundtracks and more. The multisensory experience has also evolved to feature new elements such as ballet dancers and aerial performers.
