The show takes place on 13 September.
Put your hands in the air. Desert Sound is back. The music festival, which takes place in Riyadh, brings together world-class DJs. It will take place on Friday, 13 September from 7pm until 3am and here’s what you need to know about the show.
Desert Sound in Riyadh features local and international DJs playing electronic, house, and techno music. Headliner Dubfire is an Iranian-American DJ and producer known for his unique fusion of techno and house music.
His journey into the music world began in the early 1990s as part of the influential duo Deep Dish. The group received significant acclaim for their innovative house music productions and remixes, earning a Grammy Award in 2002 for their remix of Dido’s “Thank You.”
In 2006, Dubfire embarked on a solo career, adopting a darker, more minimal techno sound that quickly garnered attention in the global electronic music scene. His solo debut, “RibCage,” released on Loco Dice’s label Desolat, became a huge underground hit. Dubfire’s sound is characterised by its deep, pulsating basslines, intricate percussion, and hypnotic rhythms, creating an immersive experience on the dance floor.
Throughout his career, Dubfire has headlined major festivals worldwide, including Awakenings, Coachella and Tomorrowland, and has released music on prominent labels such as SCI+TEC, his own imprint. Known for groundbreaking performances and a techno mastery that transcends borders, his anthems include the likes of Exit and Roadkill.
The Desert Sound show at Diriyah Biennale Hall will also see performances from a lineup of local talent such as Basha, HAFFS, Majid and Mishal.
If you want to make a night of it, Desert Sound in Riyadh brings together music with art and culture. Look out for art installations and pop-up food stalls.
