Riyadh Season 2024 has just begun and the capital’s cultural calendar looks exciting. And to add to this lineup of events is a comedy show that will send Riyadh into fits of laughter. Get ready to welcome Martin Lawrence to Saudi Arabia this Riyadh Season
Martin Lawrence will have the audience in fits of laughter as he brings his“Y’all Know What It Is!” tour to the Baker Al Sheddi Theatre within the Blvd City zone. While the first show was announced to take place on Friday, 18 October, a second show has been added to the mix. This will be held at the same venue on Saturday, 19 October.
Martin Lawrence in Riyadh promises to be one of the hottest tickets in town. Known for his larger-than-life personality, the comedian-turned-actor will serve up a classic comedy set, which features anecdotes, witty observations, and his unique take on life. With hard-hitting punchlines, these two evenings will be full of non-stop entertainment.
For those unfamiliar with Martin Lawrence, he started his career in the 1980s, performing stand-up comedy acts before making his big acting debut on TV with What’s Happening Now!! However, it was his role in Martin that skyrocketed him to fame. Later, he starred alongside Will Smith in 1995’s Bad Boys, a movie that has spawned three sequels, including 2024’s Bad Boys For Life, which has raked in $424.6 million at the global box office this year.
While this might be Martin Lawrence’s debut performance in Saudi Arabia, it won’t be his first visit to the Kingdom. The actor attended Riyadh Season 2023’s Joy Awards, wherein he received the Honorary Entertainment Makers Award.
Riyadh Season kicks off today and continues into early 2025. This year’s edition brings the best arts, culture and entertainment to the capital with 14 entertainment zones, 11 global championships, 10 festivals, and numerous exhibitions. Highlights include a Christian Dior exhibition called Designer of Dreams at Al Murabaa National Museum. This display will feature 14 sections and over 500 vintage Dior dresses, allowing visitors to explore the history and beauty of one of the world’s most iconic fashion houses. With a cafe and a gift shop, this one’s for all those who adore haute couture.
Excitingly, Riyadh Season is also bringing the magic of Harry Potter to Saudi Arabia for the very first time. The capital will be opening a 25,000-square-metre Harry Potter Experience — one of the biggest attractions this season. Modelled after the famous theme parks in Japan and Orlando, it’ll give you a chance to immerse yourself in the wizarding world in the heart of Boulevard City.
