The upcoming season will see Beterbiev and Bivol face each other in the ring.

Riyadh Season is back, and this year, it’s packing a punch with its return — literally. Kicking off in the capital on Saturday, 12 October, the event will be starting with the IV Crown Showdown.

Taking to social media, Minister and Chairman of General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al Shaikh, announced the IV Crown Showdown. This fight will see two boxing giants, Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, battle it out in the ring as the highlight of the showdown. This will be followed by seven other exciting boxing matches in Riyadh, including Riyadh Season’s first-ever women’s boxing match between Australia’s Skye Nicolson and the UK’s Raven Chapman. This will mark a significant moment in the history of the event and the country, showing that Saudi Arabia is embracing diversity and progress in the sporting world.

Russian-Canadian boxer Artur Beterbiev has earned every bit of his fearsome reputation with a record of 20 wins — all by knockouts. He started his professional career in 2013 and quickly rose to glory. He currently holds several light-heavyweight titles such as the IBF, WBO, and WBC. His most recent fight saw him take down Callum Smith with a knockout, further cementing his status as one of boxing’s most dangerous men.

On the other side of the ring is Dmitry Bivol from Kyrgyzstan. He turned pro in 2014 and has since had a record of 23 wins, with 12 knockouts. Bivol made waves in the boxing world after his victory over Canelo Alvarez in 2022, shocking fans and critics alike — and becoming the best fighter of the year.

Since its inception in 2019, Riyadh Season has grown into the largest of its kind in the Middle East. Now in its fifth edition, Riyadh Season takes over the whole city with A-list sports stars, celebrity chefs and singing sensations.
