Experience a theatrical dining experience by viral social media sensation, Chef Akayoshi Watanabe.

Hold on to your chopsticks and get ready to savour the taste of Japan’s most beloved sushi restaurant. Teruzushi is all set to expand across the seas and will be opening doors to its first international outlet in none other than – wait for it – the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Led by Chef Takayoshi Watanabe, Teruzushi’s Saudi branch is gearing up for a launch in the capital. Riyadh’s luxurious new destination, Via Riyadh will witness the opening of this authentic Japanese culinary experience on Thursday, 11 May. The sushi restaurant will be located at Via Mercato – a food hall concept offering cuisines from across the world.

Chef Takayoshi, also known as sushibae, is the third generation of a family of chefs and a viral social media sensation – much like Salt Bae and Chef Burak. He’s popular for his unique omakase dinners where he serves every piece of sushi to guests on the middle two fingers of his left hand, which has become his signature pose.

For over 50 years, Teruzushi has been a household name in Kitakyushu, Japan, wowing guests with their exceptional sushi. Once seated at the table, you can expect a theatrical dining experience with high-quality ingredients and gorgeous presentations, including Chef Akayoshi’s most famous dish, the unagi burger which is charcoal-grilled eel wrapped around rice, sealed with fresh and crisp nori.

The opening of Teruzushi in Riyadh is a testament to the growing demand for high-quality international cuisine in the region. It also marks a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s aim to become a global tourism hub. Teruzushi’s presence will undoubtedly attract food enthusiasts from around the world and Via Riyadh’s luxurious new destination will make it even more tempting. And as we eagerly await its opening, one thing is certain: Teruzushi is going to be a feast for the senses and a true culinary adventure.
